ZOOP Intellectual Property & Content Policy

Release Date: 28 January 2026
Effective Date: 28 January 2026

1. Purpose and Global Scope

ZOOP is committed to respecting and protecting intellectual property rights worldwide while maintaining a safe, lawful and responsible digital environment for all users. This Policy establishes a global intellectual property governance framework applicable across jurisdictions.

Intellectual property laws, exceptions and enforcement mechanisms vary significantly between jurisdictions. Accordingly, this Policy is intended to provide a common baseline for the protection of intellectual property rights, while allowing ZOOP to apply jurisdiction-specific rules, procedures or legal requirements where necessary in order to comply with applicable law.

This Policy operates in conjunction with ZOOP’s Content Moderation Policy, Child Safety & Child Sexual Abuse Policy, Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

2. User Responsibility and Content Ownership

Users are solely responsible for the content they make available on the Platform.

By submitting content, users represent and warrant that they:

This includes, where applicable, rights relating to copyright, neighbouring rights, trademarks, image rights and other intellectual property or proprietary rights.

Users acknowledge that:

ZOOP does not claim ownership over user-generated content and does not systematically pre-screen all content made available on the Platform.

3. Copyright

ZOOP does not permit content that infringes copyright or related rights.

Copyright protects original expressions of ideas, including literary, artistic, audiovisual and digital works, but does not protect ideas, facts or concepts as such.

Not all unauthorised uses of copyrighted works constitute infringement. Depending on the applicable legal framework, lawful exceptions and limitations may apply, including, where recognised by law:

ZOOP operates under a notice-and-action framework and does not proactively verify the ownership of all content. However, where content appears to infringe third-party rights, or where ZOOP receives a valid notice from a rights holder, ZOOP may remove or restrict access to such content and take appropriate action in accordance with its policies and applicable law.

4. Notice and Action

ZOOP operates a global notice-and-action mechanism for alleged intellectual property infringements. Rightsholders who believe that their rights have been infringed may submit a notice containing sufficient information to identify the protected work and the allegedly infringing content.

In assessing notices, ZOOP may take into account the context in which the content is used, the nature of the rights involved and the applicable legal framework, without assuming the role of adjudicator in disputes between private parties.

5. Trademarks and Brands

ZOOP does not permit content that infringes trademark rights, including unauthorised use likely to cause confusion, deception or false association as to the source, sponsorship or affiliation of goods or services.

At the same time, legitimate uses of trademarks — such as nominative use, commentary, criticism, parody, comparison or fan-related content — may be permitted where lawful and not misleading.

6. Repeat Infringer Policy

ZOOP may remove content, suspend or terminate accounts of users who repeatedly or seriously infringe intellectual property rights, taking into account the nature, frequency and severity of the violations.

7. Enforcement, Proportionality and Neutrality

ZOOP enforces this Policy in a proportionate manner and in accordance with applicable law. Nothing in this Policy is intended to unduly restrict lawful expression, creativity or legitimate uses of protected works as permitted under applicable intellectual property laws.

ZOOP does not adjudicate disputes between private parties and does not assume editorial control over user-generated content, except where required by law.

8. Jurisdictional Application

This Policy applies globally. ZOOP complies with mandatory local intellectual property, platform liability and child protection laws through local procedures or technical measures where required.
